Unfortunately, without written permission from the competitor of your water-sports-board-fin design, you will not be able to verify the patent pending status with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Applications for patents are kept confidential by the USPTO and no information concerning a pending application will be given without written permission from the applicant. Typically, patent applications are published (made public) 18 months after the date the application was filed. However, design patent applications are not published unless, and until, it becomes an actual registered patent within the USPTO.

Please feel free to contact an Intellectual Property Attorney at our office regarding your patent infringement issue.
