I work for a company that is a subsidiary of a larger company (my company is in CO, the parent company is in NV). Our parent company is in an industry where ideas are everything. I've come up with a unique idea that I honestly think can generate the parent company hundreds of millions of dollars over time (assuming it's implemented properly). I've taken the time (on my own time) to develop the idea to a reasonable point: I have a ''vision document'' that's over 10 pages long. Assuming my revenue projection turns out to be true, I'd like to get some reasonable compensation for coming up with the idea in the first place. What's the best way to proceed with this?
I cannot reasonably implement the idea on my own, but there are other companies capable of implementing the idea. I'm not particularly interested in playing any games like quitting my job and shopping for the highest bidder or anything. I like my job, I like the company, I don't have any particular reason to think they'll take advantage of me -- but nevertheless, I feel it'd be wise to be careful about how I approach this whole situation.

Normally employees do not get compensated for their job related ideas. You should try this way...without divulging the idea....you come up with a comprehensive proposal how the idea can generate X amount of revenue for the company...and negotiate a deal from them. Then get a full non-disclosure, etc. befor giving out the idea. You can also hire an IP attorney, make him/her negotiate the deal and escrow account can be open where this document can be deposited. But...before I go on I need to know more about your idea and its application. As you know..idea alone is not protected unless it is expressed in a tangible form. Lots depend on your empolyer...their corporate culture!!!!
