Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Nevada

I am a new business and I am waiting to finish work (and have been for a couple months now) so I can get open, the problem is the landlord is taking his sweet time getting things done. I have had to wait almost 4 months to get the duct work installed and we have about 6-8 leaks that have ruined parts of my new work from the ceiling and walls from the water leaking in. He still hasn't started the roof, and I am losing money daily by not being open, can I essentially calculate what I would be making daily till he gets done and i get open and take it out of rent or something? What are my rights here?

thanks!

One would have to refer to the terms of the lease agreement to answer this for you. If there is a specific definition of "start date" or "initial occupancy" in the lease contract, and the landlord is out of compliance, you would surely have a case. If there are specific terms for the owner improvements, including dates and duties relating to completion, there is room for good argument. I certainly hope you have not been paying rent for this time!

You should have had a full review of the commercial lease prior to entering, but it is not too late to get it checked over (prior to occupying) to see if there is room for a fight on these issues.
