Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Nevada
collection of double rent
My landlord allowed us to break our rental lease without penalty b/c we were buying a home. We have paid rent up until 2-15-07. The landlord has now rented out the unit to another party, effective 2-1-07. Does he have to return the portion of February rent that we paid so he isn't collecting ''double rent'' for that time period?

Re: collection of double rent
If you surrendered possession the unit before 2/1, but agreed to pay up through 2/15, I am not aware any prohibition against landlord renting out property on 2/1 or requiring him to refund you 2 weeks worth of rent. The fact that allowed you to break your lease without penalty does not make your case for a refund very compelling.
