Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Nevada
Landlord will not refund security deposit
I was renting a house in Nevada. The landlord/owner informed me that at the end of my lease she was going to sell the house and would not be renewing the lease. My lease had about 5 months to go to termination. I discussed moving out early with the landlord so she could sell the property sooner. We agreed that if I was able to find some place to move, I could move sooner than September, when the lease was up. Also I agreed to allow the house to be shown to perspective buyers while I was still living there and the landlord agreed to pay me $250 for showing the house. We also agreed that when I moved out, we would do a final walkthrough and that my security deposit plus $250 would be refunded at that time. I found a place and moved out leaving the property much cleaner than when I moved into it. However, the landlord has stated that since she hasn't sold the house yet, she would not be refunding my deposits for 30 days. She also is demmanding the keys and garage door openers back. It is my contention that since we had a verbal binding contract outside of the normal lease agreement, that the landlord must refund my deposits now. The landlord is refusing. What are my rights?

Re: Landlord will not refund security deposit
The lease must be reviewed to determine your rights. It may bar verbal agreements. The new agreements should have been confirmed in writing.
I would be happy to review the lease and any other written documents for you to advise you.
