Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Nevada
Late fee's of lease
My Gf had a 1yr lease as of may 2007, On sept 23 the Landlord notified her while she was out of state that her belonging would be removed next day unless she came up with $7600 dollars worth of late fee's she incurred in less than 5 months. He said she owed him $150 for everyday the lease was late...We had to fly from fla to nv the next day to settle the matter at which time we found out they had animal control to go in and remove the dogs. We gave the lanlord $6100 and then he said the lease had been terminated and now we had to come up with over another 4k cuz the lease was now with a property management company and a new lease would have to be signed over to them. I understand the eviction may have been legal, but as i read thru the lease it clearly states there is a 150 late fee, but nothing about 150 per day which he charged her for? Would you say we have a case that she should have only been charged at tops 150 for the 4 months of late fees, not only that but he hit her for 900 in late fees for being late the first month i am just noticing she paid.????Help

Re: Late fee's of lease
Thank you for your inquiry.
I would need to review your lease agreement to adequately evaluate your situation. It seems very excessive to allow late fees of $150.00/day but there is no law limiting such clauses.
You may have a civil claim against the landlord and property management company for your late fees and value of your lost property when your landlord improperly disposed of it.
Contact my office if you'd like to schedule a consultation with my office to discuss your matter.
