Legal Question in Military Law in Nevada

What age is legal to date

My son has been dating a girl for a year. He is now 18 and she is 15 1/2. I was told it was illegal for him to have anything to do with her since he is now in the military. Can this ruin his career if he keeps in contact with her? They have not been sexual at all. He is in Japan and will not be back until after she turns 16. Can he date her after she is 16 without getting into trouble with the military?

Under military law it is an offense to have carnal knowledge (statutory rape) with a person under 16. It's OK to date, but no sex. However, I'm aware of cases where the command has made problems for the person, as well as the girl's family.
