Legal Question in Personal Injury in Nevada

I've had 2 incidents where someone has run into my car, 1st one is going to trial in Feb. (tour bus ran into me while I was stopped at a red light).the second one a driver ran into me again when I was stopped at a red light(driver in car). First accident caused major injury(4 operations on back and neck so far),second just made it hurt more. Second accident Insurance Co. settled full amount of policy and sent check to my attornies. They said they cannot release the funds untill the 1st accident is settled in court. They settled it in March 2010. Can they do this or should they have given me my share right away?

We need to know why your attorney says that the 2nd accident settlement proceeds must be held. The one good reason I can think of is that you signed liens for medical treatment for both accidents and it is hard to apportion the treatment between the two accidents and the liens are large compared to the settlement for the second accident.
