Legal Question in Personal Injury in Nevada
How does a homestead affect Personal Injury suit
I was injured in a felony DUI accident caused by another person. The responsible party has homesteaded their residence. Does the homestead protect their residence from a judgement or lien if a personal injury law suit is filed?

It only protects up to the homestead amount.

The homestead declaration protects up to the homestead amount which is currently $550,000 in Nevada. If you were injured in a felony DUI accident however, you have many other options. Note that the other person cannot discharge the debt in bankruptcy, meaning that you can garnish them for a long time.
