Legal Question in Personal Injury in Nevada

Hospital Malpractice

Can I file a suit against the Hospital and not use a lawyer? I have talked to several lawyers and they all say I have a good case but since there is a libelity cap it is'nt going to be worth it because their fee and the other costs for them to handle it would leave very little for me.

Re: Hospital Malpractice

You could but it would be very difficult. It would also cost you a lot of money in the various costs. You might want to try further to find a lawyer.

Hello. Yes, there is no prohibition against you representing yourself. However, keep in mind that you will be going up against lawyers, and this could put you at a disadavantage as a non-lawyer.

I would be happy to discuss your case with you. You can reach me at 702.384.1616.

You can but you need to attach an affidavit from an expert in medical mapractice to the Complaint stating an expert opinion that the hospital committed malpractice.

Re: Hospital Malpractice

You can always represent yourself. However, I really advise against it, especially for your serious case. There are many legal rules particular to medical malpractice and your case can be dismissed on a technicality. For example, you must file the complaint with a supporting affidavit and there are special statutes of limitation. Also, the hospital won't take you seriously since you don't have an attorney.

Feel free to contact me at 966.5622 and I'll discuss your case with you. I'll also be very frank. Many people "think" they have good cases when they have horrible ones. I've never seen great cases that attorneys were just too lazy to take and earn money. Your case may not be as good as you think. However, if you want to set up a free consultation, I would be happy to talk to you.
