Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Nevada

Breaking Rental Agreement Contracts

We signed a 6-month rental agreement with an apartment complex in Las Vegas, Nevada that states you can not break the contract. The very next day after signing the contract we purchased a home. Thinking that since we had JUST signed the contract the previous day they might let us out of it. They refused. They told us in the beginning that they usually have no problems renting out vacant apartments, and if they could get ours rented they could break the contract, however it is 3 months since and they are not trying to get it rented.

Is there any way POSSIBLE that a contract can be broken in the state of Nevada if you have purchased a home? Paying 2 rents is really hurting us! What are the valid reasons that a contract can be broken?

Thank you!

Rhonda

Re: Breaking Rental Agreement Contracts

You have not discloed any facts providing grounds to terminate the agreement. The agreement may allow you to sublet the premises with the owner's consent and you may want to pursue that mitigation of your losses.
