Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Nevada
Condominum Association Rules
I own a condominimum. At a recent condo association meeting, it was voted to change the gas lamps in front of each condo to electric lamps. Each condo owner has his/her own lamp and pays the gas bill for it. The vote was 34 yes, 6 no. It was announced that ''the majority rules and everyone will have to convert their gas lamp to an electric one.'' Mant people are hoping to save on their gas bills. It was also announced that the work needed to be done by a certain company -- everyone has to use the same company. The cost is $250 per unit and each condo owner needs to pay for the conversion. I don't want to change my gas lamp to electric. I like my gas lamp! Do I have any rights? And, can we be told that we all must use the same comapny? What if someone finds a company to do the job cheaper? It was also announced that everyone will have to use the same light bulb that comes on at dusk and off at dawn. It's an ugly light bulb with a weird ''antennna.'' Can they make everyone use the same bulb? What if one wants touse a pretty decorative bulb and has a timer that makes it come on at dusk and off at dawn? Can I refuse to have my lamppost changed from gas to electric?
Thank you!

Re: Condominum Association Rules
You have to abide by the rules of your Association. If you want to do your own thing you need to buy a house not in an Association.
