Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Nevada
property manager not taking resposibility
I moved into a studio 4 months ago @ that time the 1st months rent was free because it was not cleaned. I paid the 2nd month but made the manager aware of the fact that the stove had a short which he said he would fix. to this day it has not been fixed. the 3rd months rent i fixed the rotting bathroom floor instead of rent. now it is the 4th month & i paid only 1/2 of the rent because still the stove is not fixed & the shower is now rusting through the bottom. any repairs that have been made in this apt has been done by me. when the manager picked up the rent he put a 30 day evition notice under my door hand written.Help

Re: property manager not taking resposibility
You cannot unilaterally fix things and deduct them from the rent. You must give the landlord 14 days notice of your intent to fix something or you will deduct it from the rent and fix it yourself. If you do not do the written notice then the landlord does not have to accept the deduction for the repair.
