Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Nevada

How to protect home from medical bills

My wife and I have health insurance, but it has limits as to what the insurer will reimburse for claims, especially for expensive heart/cancer surgery. We own our home, no mortgage. Is there some kind of way we could title our house (or place it in some kind of trust) so that, should one of us incur hundreds of thousands of dollars of medical debt, our house would be protected? It's sad to think that we could be left with no money and no home in order pay for expensive medical treatment. Thanks for any advice.

Re: How to protect home from medical bills

Your home is exempt now up to $550,000 so unless it is worth more than than you don't have a problem. Beside you can always just file bankruptcy and still keep your home.
