Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Nevada

Rental Car kept for one year longer than agreement. Car reported stolen.

Hello,

I rented a car from a national chain with the intention of using it just for an overnight excursion. The night turned into a full year due to circumstances. A police officer saw the expired registration on the vehicle, pulled me over, and subsequently, I was arrested for posession of stolen property.

The rental agency claims about $20,000 in damages (from rental fees plus about $1500 in body damange to the vehicle). I have never been arrested for anything before and I am simply trying determine how much trouble I might be in. I posted bail the next day and have ben awaiting my trial. This was almost one full year ago.

If you get a response from a Criminal Attorney, great. If not, you should immediately contact a qualified Nevada Criminal attorney. If you tell me the city of your charges, I can make a referral.
