My brother died suddenly in Las Vegas. He has things in the pawn shop in vegas but there is no will or power of attorney papers. The pawn shop says my mother needs a form in order to get them out. He was never marriee nor did he have any children. How can I get a power of attorney paper for my mom to get this stuff out of the pawn shop?

Re: Power of Attorney

If the estate is under $20,000 in value, and no real estate is involved, an Affidavit of Entitlement might work. The form is found here:

If the estate is greater than $20,000 in value or real property is involved, a probate proceeding can be used, with Letters of Special Administration to deal with immediate concerns, like the pawn tickets.

Your attorney can advise further.

Does your mother have the pawn slip because I believe that should be enough. Otherwise, you might have to probate the matter, which is expensive; even the most simple could be $1500.
