The time to file a claim begins when the Notice to Creditors begins publication. The last date for filing the claim depends on the size of the estate. For small estates, the period lasts for 60 days; for larger estates, it is a 90 day period. Once the claim period ends, the right to obtain payment ends. If the claim is secured by collateral, the rules are different.
