Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Nevada
Step Father selling home in trust
My 3 siblings and myself are named beneficiaries to our moms trust. She passed away about 1 year ago. Our step dad who is successor trustee has decided to sell her car, take monies out of there joint accounts, and sell the house. He says he is going to move into an apartment and not purchase another home. It seems like he is trying to delete us from everything. Since we are beneficiaries on our mothers and his trust, can he sell everything and liquidate it all without giving us a dime? I know he has given his own son alot of cash for his son to put into his name, which 1/2 of that money was our moms and those accounts were listed in the trust. Can he do this? Im just afraid that what my mom and step dad built together is now going to be only one sided and we are pushed aside. Mom was unaware of how greedy her husband is and she certainly didnt want things to go this way.

Re: Step Father selling home in trust
Have an attorney review the trust and tell you what your rights/protections are--if part or all of the trust is irrevocable, you have a right to accountings from your stepfather and he has limits on how he can spend the trust money, but not all trusts are set up this way. Contact an attorney in the state where your stepfather is living and get an opinion soon.
