Legal Question in Workers Comp in Nevada
International Claim??
My husband was injured on the job-he had back surgery/spinal fusion. It gets complicated-he was working for a UK company who was a subcontract on an american government contract in Iraq-this company also has a location in the US. He received workers comp in the US, and they paid the medical bills and rehab. But we went and got an attorney overseas to seek a claim against his employer but had to drop them because of the outrageous legal fees they were charging. My husband can no longer do the same work. Since he received workers comp in the US, what are our options for a settlement?

Re: International Claim??
If the British company was a direct subcontractor it would be immune from suit unless intentional misconduct occurred. A negligence or products liability claim is otherwise available.

I am sorry to hear about your husband's injury.
Where did your husband collect work comp benefits? If he collected the benefits in Nevada, under Nevada work comp laws, he is probably entitled to a monetary settlement in the form of a permanent partial disability award. This is the work comp system's way of compensating an injured worker for permanent disability.
Also, if he has permanent restrictions, under Nevada law he would be entitled to vocational rehabilitation training.
