Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New Hampshire

Should I file for bankruptcy or not?

I became disabled in 2002. My credit cards were covered by insurance and most were paid off, however a few were not and after having fought with them they are now in collection. I have one medical bill in collection. I owe money on one loan, two active credit cards and one inactive credit card. Debt is approximately $14,000.00. I am permanently disabled and will never work again. Am living on a fixed income. Should I file for bankruptcy or not? Thank you.

Re: Should I file for bankruptcy or not?

Since you're on a fixed income facing credit card fees that can make a financial hole inescapable over time, I would consider a bankruptcy unless you see yourself with another alternative in the near future. The new bankruptcy law lobbied for by the credit card industry will make bankruptcy much more difficult for low and moderate income Americans, so you definitely want to make a decision before this law takes effect.
