Re: Statue of Limitations for Computer Crimes
The law does not recognize "computer crimes" as a category distinct from other crimes. Computers can be used to help commit a variety of crimes (such as, forgery, harassment, bank fraud, conspiracy, etc.), but the fact that the defendant used a computer was involved is not legally significant. Fraud, for example, is fraud whether it is committed verbally or online. Thus, which limitations period applies depends upon what crime was committed and not upon whether the defendant used a computer.
