Legal Question in Consumer Law in New Hampshire
hospital collections
I am currently paying off some medical bills to Mary Hitchcock Medical center in Lebanon NH. I had a hip replacement last Feb and then knee surgury in May. They have sent collection agencies after me for both accounts. I am paying on the hip but cant afford to pay on the knee. I am presently sending them $100/mon. Can they do this?
I have set up bank withdrawls for the $100 payments but I cant afford more than this

Re: hospital collections
Generally, you will not be obligated to pay more than you can afford each month. Collection simply means that they will get a court judgment against you and they could possibly put a lien on your house but as I said, the Court will generally not order you to pay any more than you can afford.
