Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Hampshire

car repossession

I received a call about a car I had back in the 90's do not recall the year, the car was repossessed and I have not even thought of it till this phone call. They told me of this delinquent account dated Nov 23 1998 from Fleet Bank, now after all this time am I liable for this? and what is the statue of limitations, for if it is 7 years it has been 8 and I do not feel obligated to pay. I have not heard anything from them in all these years why now? What should I do any help would be of assistance. Thank you.

Re: car repossession

The first step is to order your free annual credit report. Call 1.877.322.8228 to order them. It is a consumer disclosure and will not impact your score. It is important to order the report by phone becuase internet credit reports do not make good evidence in court, if you have a case. If they are reporting the information of the car repo on your credit reports, then please contact my office or make an appointment. It appears that your rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act may be violated. I have a free consultation and will only get paid on your case if we are successful. The FCRA provides an award for attorney's fees, therefore you do not pay our bill.
