Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Hampshire
A family friend loaned me money several years ago, interest free-with no deadline. The loan was paid off within a few years. Ten years later, the family friend became ill and died. Her son told me that I needed to payoff the loan. I sent copies of the cancelled checks showing him that the loan was paid off. It has been 17 years since her estate has been settled and her son has sent me a disterbing letter demanding full payment of the loan. I am not sure that I still have all that documentation or how to retrieve it, the loan was 20 years ago. What should I do? Thank you for your help.
1 Answer from Attorneys
You may fax or email me a copy of the letter if you wish. I'd be happy to review it at no cost to you. Unfortunately, it would be very difficult for any attorney to provide the appropriate guidance without seeing the letter.
