i signed for a college loan for my son and he hasnt paid it .. i received a letter to go to court .. do i need an attorney to go with me

If you co-signed for the loan and if your son is not going to pay it, then you may be obligated to pay it all. It is more than just going to court with you. You would want a lawyer to review the entire transaction to make sure that it is enforceable against you and if so, then try to work out some acceptable payment arrangement.
