Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Hampshire
can a detective force someone to take a lie detector test?
A friend of mine worked for a moving company and 10,000 dollers worth of jewlery was supposedly stolen from the home owner they moved. The cops are investigating all the people who worked on that day. The detective asked my friend to take a lie detector test and i want to know if he has to take it? If he refuses what would happen and do you think it is just some kind of scare tactic?

Yes, it is a scare tactic. No, he does not have to take it. If he is a suspect, he should consult with an attorney.
