Information disclosure
If someone suspects that a criminal investigation of them is taking place, do they have the right to be told by local law enforcement?

No!
Often the police will try to bring someone in to take a statement but sometimes the police might proceed secretively.
The best advice I can give you is not to volunteer any incriminating information about yourself when speaking with anybody. If the police call you in to take a statement, assert your right to remain silent and have a lawyer present, and then call a lawyer immediately.
