Re: legal question
Hello,
At the arraignment, the judge or clerk will read you the charges and you will enter a plea. Typically you will enter a plea of not guilty although the prosecutor may approach you with a "plea offer" to take a recommended sentence in exchange for a guilty plea.
If you plead not guilty, the court may set bail. Since you have been served a summons without a bail, they might not set any bail. If they do, it sounds like it will likely be personal recognizance - meaning you don't have to post cash.
Finally, if the charge carries the possibility of jail, and you are unable to hire your own lawyer, you will be given paperwork to apply for a court appointed lawyer.
Best of luck and feel free to contact me by e-mail if you have any further questions.
