Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Hampshire

Marijuana possession

My son was arrested at college - marijuana was in his room - 1st offense - What is the best course of action so that this would not be on his record permanently?

You need to hire an attorney to fight for an alternative disposition instead of a conviction.

Retain an attorney to defend him in the the action and try for a not guilty or the next best alternative disposition. Good Luck!

Re: Marijuana possession

My advice is to hire a criminal defense attorney to represent your son. A conviction for possession, even of marijuana, will cause a 1 year loss of licesne and prohibit financial aid in Massachusetts. Most judges beleive that decriminization will not happen and are still treating possession of small amounts seriously. Generalists know a little bit about a lot of things. Specialsits know a lot about what they specialize in. Hire a seasoned criminal defense attorney that you feel comfortable with and then trust them. I tell my clients that once they hire me, it is now my headache and if any sleep is to be lost, let it be mine.
