Legal Question in DUI Law in New Hampshire
hosting underage drinking party
I have a 16 year old daughter charged with hosting an underage drinking party. She was not drinkin g but friends were. What should we expect in court and should we have a lawyer represent her. Also she is planning in going to college. Will this be on her record or is there someway to keep it off.

Re: hosting underage drinking party
The "host" law is relatively new in New Hampshire. Different courts are responding in various ways. She does have exposure for more than just a fine. Yes, this may have an impact on her eligibility for college funding, depending upon how the police have filed the charge. It is also possible that this might impact her right to drive since they are very tightly focused on minors and alcohol issues. Again, there is no "one size fits all" in these cases. It would be to your advantage to seek the advice of an attorney who can review the specific facts and circumstances of your matter.
