Can an eldery woman, living with her son, be forced not to use her money as she wants? In other words, her SS check is being controlled against her will.

You'll need to provide more details - such s: who is "forcing" her, how is she being forced, what is the money being used for, etc. As a general rule, no one can be "forced" to do something unless there is an obligation to do so...
