Legal Question in Family Law in New Hampshire

i am attempting to get a divorce in new hampshire and my husband says he will contest it. there are no children involved. does that mean he can stop me from divorcing him or does it just take longer?

The fact that you want the divorce and he does not, constitutes "irreconcilable diferences," which is sufficient for the court to grant a divorce. The desire for the divorce is hard to contest. What he can contest is how the assets and liabilities should be allocated. As with all legal matters there are general rules and there are exceptions. In your case I suggest that a review of all the facts and circumstances by an attorney would be to your benefit.
