If you are the father of the child then you have certain rigts and obligations as the father. First you have the right to visitation unless you are abusive to the child. If you are interested in a relationship with your son than tell the judge that you want visitation and you want a relationship. In addition, if you are the father you have an obligation to pay child support which will be calculated according to the law of your state. Finally, if you sign over your parental rights to your ex, then you have done just that and then you can not ask for visitation later. You would no longer have that right.
