Future Ex wants me to pay half Leased Vehicle Penalty

Future Ex wants me to pay half Leased Vehicle Penalty

Second marriage for both myself future ex, we are separated,

No real-estate, no savings. Four children total from previous marriages.

Each of us had complex visitation schedules with our respective children.

We have been married for two years; we both had cars [2] which would hold 5 passengers. The Ex To Be leased a vehicle which holds more than 5 passengers, to accommodate two adults and the four children. The lease is in the Ex To Bes name.

The Ex To Be, wants to terminate the lease, which will create a penalty of $4500.00, and wants me to pay half, claiming I had use of the family vehicle before we separated.

This doesn't seem entirely unreasonably, but you could also fight it. It really depends upon the analysis of all the facts. If this is the only thing you disagree over, it is not worth the cash to fight over it. You should use it to negotiate over other matters. Alternatively, if you still have a vehicle payment, she should continue to make her payment and you can make your payment.
