Legal Question in Family Law in New Hampshire

Legal implications of marrying a woman with two children by previous marriages

I anticipate marriage, in the near future, to a woman with two children - one each, by two previous husbands. Can you summarize, within the context of 'Family Law', those areas of legal liability and responsibility and their implications, that I undertake by so doing?

Re: Legal implications of marrying a woman with two children by previous marriag

You have not indicated what age the children are and that, depending on what duties you assume can make a difference. In general, however, they are not your children and by mere marraige you are not legally bound the support or otherwise pay for them (I assume your fiance is collecting child support for both). If you assume the obligation of supervising them (depending on their age), you may have some liability if you are negligent. Of course, if you adopt, you will be fully responsible for their upbringing including child support if you divorce.
