Proceedure to Stay a Lower Court order that is on Appeal

My divorce is on appeal yet the attorney for my wife has treatened with a motion to force compliance with the loer court order. This will mean signing over a very big check to my wife which is part of the appeal. Furthermore, the attorney has treatened to have court charge me the legal fees because I forced him to file
