Receipts vs cancelled checks

My ex husband is obligated per our dvc agreement to pay for additonal expense....My question is if a receipt is not available will a cancelled check be sufficient for reimbursement...He is being very difficult with regards to this issue...

It is difficult to determine a well reaonsed response since you offer very limited facts. As a general rule, and this may or may not apply to your specific situation, a check is evidence of the payment of money. A receipt is evidence of payment of a particular debt. A receipt is better to prove that the item in question has been paid. Perhaps you can get an accounting from the creditor to prove that the debt has been paid?
