Legal Question in Family Law in New Hampshire

Step parents rights

I recently filed for a modification of child support with my ex

husband of 10 years. This was the first time i filed for a

modification since the original order 10 years ago. My ex is

remarried and neither one of them are happy that i did this. Since

taking him to court, his current wife has been sending me letters

regarding my daughter, the way i manage my money, telling me

what is best for my daugther etc. I am receiving letters from my ex

as well, but am receiving more correspondence from her which i

feel is harrassment and what is written the letters is a defamation

of my character. I do not belive that she has any rights, legally or

otherwise concerning my daughter. I have physical custody of my

daughter and my ex and i have joint legal custody. Can i advise

that her writing to me is to stop immediately and that she has no

say in what goes on with my daughter that it is between my ex and

me. I plan on advising my husband that she is to stop, if she does

not is there anything i can do?

Re: Step parents rights

What ever few rights the ex's wife may have, she has no right to send you these letters. But as long as they are not threatening, there is probably little you can do. Unless of course you believe and have information that her actions to your child are a source of harm. Tell your ex to have her back off, or you will seek legal action.
