termination of parental rights
I have guardinship of my granddaughter, the mother of the child has server mental health issues and is living in a rooming home. can I adopt the granddaughter. the childs grandmother visitations are asked through mother of the child and the grandmother has never or willing to cooperate with us.

If the birth mother and the birth father are willing to relinquish their parental rights then you may be able adopt. However, if either are unwilling or unable (due to a legal disability) then you'll likely have to pursue a diffent path. In that case you would apply to the court for temporary custody and would ultimately petition to terminate the parental rights of both birth parents. This is not an easy procedure as cutting off birth parents from their child is a very serious legal step and the court strongly favors trying to keep a family intact.
