Can you get fired/terminated for medical conditions? My brother has Crohn's disease and has been out of work on and off because of his health condition.

If the medical condition substantially impairs a major life activity, then it is unlawful for the employer to fire someone for that condition. That sort of misconduct is covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
