Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Hampshire

Getting sued for alleged monies owed

My home in Florida was damaged during a hurricane in 2004. I had a verbal agreement with a New Hampshire based company(who also does estate management in Florida) to do emergency work down there. They did do some work but charged me for work not performed, and for demolition work for which they are not licensed. I then got a licensed contractor in the state of Florida to finish the job. They are now suing me in New Hampshire for non payment. Can they do that and what recourse do I have? Thanks

Re: Getting sued for alleged monies owed

Obviously they can-whether they will succeed is your concern. I suggest

that you review all the information in person with a litigation attorney and retain counsel in NH to represent you in the action.
