Legal Question in Employment Law in New Hampshire

Employer Obligations

On the day I was hired I was told that the Company would begin Medical Coverage starting on the 1st day of my employment. Based on this information members of my family, who were also covered under my insurance, incurred dental bills. About a month later I received notification that these were uncovered expense. Again, my employer stated that the costs would be taken care of. The Employer could not get the insurance company to cover these expenses and is now demanding that I pay these bills. Since I only have a verbal promise, do I have any recourse?
