Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Hampshire
My daughter's ex boyfriend ( there is a restraining order against him, he is out on bail) came to her apartment door and broke the door to the point where it had to be replaced. He was arrested again. Landlord replaced it but says my daughter must pay for it because it was someone she knew and he would not have done it if she didn't live there. I thought landlord would submit bill to prosecutor and get paid that way? Can he make her responsible for it?

Yes, the Landlord can seek reimbursement from the Tenant when there is damage to the property regardless if there is a Restraining Order. It is up to your Daughter to submit the bill to the Court and ask for restitution.
