Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Hampshire

lease signing

Four of us were to rent a house in NH and all of us were under the impression that because our parents names were on the lease and she said she was requiring them to sign infront of a notary. One of my roomates parents did not sign and she is now holding the three of us responsible for his security deposit can she do that.

Re: lease signing

I would prefer to see the lease before giving you firm advice. However, in general terms, the lease is a contract. Those who sign the lease are bound by the contract. Those who do not sign the lease may sometimes avoid responsibility. However, the remaining signers may have a claim against the one who did not sign.

This is just a general idea and should not be taken as a complete answer to your question. It is merely a starting point for analysis.
