Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Hampshire
I live in NH and my previous employer suddenly went out of business, I have personal belongings in that property and the owner of the building keeps telling me he will let me know when it is "convenient" for him to get my things. The building was being leased, and they have changed the locks on the building. I have a substantial amount of personal property in there and it is preventing me from working. Is this lawful? Can they hold my things?

First, is the former employer's location in New Hampshire? If not, you'll need to contact an attorney in that jurisdiction.
If the building is in New Hampshire and the owner is not being cooperative, you may need to file a law suit called a "Writ of Replevin" to obtain your business property. The underlying issue is that you have no legal relationship with the Owner, and only with your former employer.
On occasion, a polite phone call from an attorney to the owner and the former employer may help to address some of these issues. Otherwise, litigation is the likely path to follow.
