Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Hampshire
Hit and Run but didn't know
My brother got into an accident with his truck. The car was off on the side of the road and my brother swirved to not hit it but obviously contact was made. The problem is there was so little contact my brother did not feel it. So he did not stop. The police said that he could see why my brother would not have felt it. I feel this guy could have just as easily hit my brothers bumper not waiting for him to pass by all the way. Or it could be my brother cut back in too soon. Not even knowing he hit someone who knows. Now this guy is saying that my brother owes him $650 for the damage. MY brother was uninsured. The guy went to Massachussetts to get the estimate and he lives in NH. Massachussetts has taxes on things we don't. Does my brother have a right to ask for an estimate in the state of NH. Or do we have to eat this outragous amount for an accident so small he couldn't feel it?

Re: Hit and Run but didn't know
Your brother has a right to have another estimate at a reasonable place of his own choosing, to be able to contest the validity; also to check whether any of the damage may have been there before this alleged collision.
