Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire
Can we break our lease if we are buying property
My roomate and I would like to buy a house this year. We currently live in a luxury apartment complex in New Hampshire but have been very disatisfied with the complex. We are anxious to purchase a house and would like to buy the end of this year(Oct/Nov) in most likely Massachusetts. Our lease currently goes until the end of February 2002. Is there any way to get out of our lease if we are buying property?
Thank You

Re: Can we break our lease if we are buying property
You can always ask your landlord if he will let you out but most likely will not. The landlord can't collect double so if you leave in July and he rents in August, you owe nothing; however, there is usually a gap and you are technically liable for the term of the lease. Perhaps you can find a qualified tenant who will rent your apartment starting when you want to leave?
