condo fee assessment increases
my condo association increased our fees for jan from 248 to 300 dollars and a one time assessment of 300 dollars additional. which includes some units that were forclosed and there lack of paying the increase from last year. so we all have to pay this additional added on bill. is this legal to do. my fees last year was an additional 848 dollars and then this year up 900 dollars my check has not gone up

Condominiums are governed by a comprehensive set of state laws and their own Declaration, Rules and Regulations. The Declaration sets forth the manner and method to adjust the monthly assessment. A review of that document is the starting point in determining if the Association acted properly in raising the assessment. It's a matter of raising enough funds to cover the costs of operating the complex in a prudent fashion. There may be challenges on a number of fronts to the increase and it would be beneficial to have an attorney review your documents and advise you based on an examination of the Declaration and minutes of meetings.
