Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire

Easement

My fiance and I own a lot in NH, which is next door to his parent's home. His parents are attempting to build a septic system and want us to give them an easement for a leech field. What obligations exactly do we have if this is put through? We don't want to be responsible for the field, as our plans are to eventually sell the lot at a profit. We are also concerned about future owners obligations. This is a small lot, and the field would limit the size of a home being built upon it.

Any advice is appreciated!

Re: Easement

If you grant an easement to allow your lot to be used as a leach field for their septic system, then you may have problems selling your lot. Basically, your lot will probably lack enough land to have its OWN leaching field if it needs a septic system. Also, ask yourself who would buy a lot that is being used as a leaching field for someone elses septic system???
