Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire

My house is up for foreclosure auction on 12/9 at 2pm. How soon following that will I legally be evicted or served an eviction notice? I really need more time to clear out my belongings as I got very little notification (though as I understand it, legal enough time). Thank you!

Unfortunately, the answer is "it depends." Until there is a sale, there is no way to predict how the purchaser will pursue the matter. Sometimes the bank buys the property and then you can make an arrangment with the bank as to a reasonable time to vacate. Recently, a few banks have taken no affirmative action to remove an occupant since they know you'll keep the house heated during the winter. If an outside buyer purchases the property, it often takes a month or more before the foreclosure process is completed. At that time they may decide to change the locks, terminate services, or serve you with an eviction notice. Each buyer may have a slightly different approach. Some of the approaches may not be appropriate in strict legal terms and only an experienced attorney will be able to help you evaulate your other options.
